Florida Paintout

posted in: News | 4

Early Monday morning, Feb 21, 2017, my friend, Carol Reesor and I had the opportunity to do some plein air painting on a farm in Punta Gorda, FL with the Peace River Painters. What an exhilarating day! I didn’t count, but there must have been at least 24 artists sprinkled around the farm, under the huge oaks and around the barns. I took my tiny thumb box with water mixable oils and a 6×8 canvas board. After a couple of hours sitting on a 3 legged stool, my posterior informed me that a more comfortable seat is needed before the next plein air event.  At lunch time, everyone gathered in the shade, set their paintings up to show, share and critic.

  1. looks like great fun Theresa. Reminded me of our printouts in Kentucky.

Looks like an Imoressionist has been here! I like it a lot. But I’m with you @perching on a little stool for hours–my back and posterior both would be ready to call it quits. Sounds like a delightful experience!

    • Hi Laurel, Since time is of the essence while painting on location, my work does get more impressionistic. I like the look also. Haven’t found a new stool yet.
